The 2023 Itas Trentino begins with a setback at home.
This afternoon at the BLM Group Arena, the yellow and blue team had to deal with the sixth defeat in the regular season SuperLega Credem Banca (the third in front of their own public), leaving the way open to Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza after four sets that were fluctuating in their course but also in their performance. The defeat in the match valid for the fourteenth round marks the tie for fourth place at 25 points for the Emilianians compared to the home team, who saw the invincibility of their own facility fall in the direct confrontation, thirteen and a half years after the last Emilian victory.
Piacenza had not won in Trento since the evening of May 17, 2009, when winning game 5 of the Play Off Final in a tie break, it obtained its first and only championship. Today’s victory certainly has a lesser specific weight but it has still seen the guests frequently put Trentino in difficulty, as happened in the first set (played better in attack and in service) and then also in the third and fourth partial, after the locals had straightened the situation with a second period of great substance. Romanò (best scorer with 16 points and two aces) and Simon (13 with one block and four service points) managed to reverse the trend again, leading the guests to victory against Trentino, which has constantly struggled in reception and attacked too fallaciously.
The sparks at the net by Podrascanin (6 winning) and Lavia (15 points with 71%, the best of his) were not enough to guarantee the 3,000 present the possibility of seeing a tie break that perhaps the Lorenzetti team would have deserved, having tried several times (even in a fourth set that started badly) to write a different epilogue from the one that actually materialized on the field.
